Some of my fondest childhood memories are connected to the markets of Chile.
When I was young, I spent time around La Vega and Lo Valledor, where watermelons were moved from one place to another in a constant rhythm. We would form a kind of human chain, passing the watermelons from hand to hand to fill up the truck, one after another. It was hard work, but there was something fun and almost playful about the whole processβthe noise, the movement, the weight of the fruit, and everyone working together to get the job done.
Those memories stayed with me. For me, the watermelon is more than just a summer fruit; it represents childhood, work, community, and those simple moments that become part of who we are.
Water Pop: Red Melon is my tribute to those memories. The vibrant red of the melon and the transparency of the glass vessel bring together the freshness of summer with the warmth of a memory from home.
